A Guardian Home allows us to give our breeding dogs the very best life possible, it is important to us to limit how many dogs we personally keep and house. However, we also understand that in order to breed the highest quality pets which is our main goal, we also need to keep, evaluate/test, retire and add quality bloodlines to our breeding program.
As a Guardian home, we offer you one of top notch quality dog and the dog stays with you for the life of the dog, but we retain breeding rights for a certain amount of litters we choose. Each guardian dog contract is unique but it’s usually between 4-6 litters for females depending on what we’re trying to accomplish with that particular female and how well she reacts to being a mother. So to give an exact time frame before they retire is unpredictable and is at the breeders discretion.
If for any reason she is dropped from the breeding program before having any litters Love Me Pooch has the right to terminate contract.
Our Guardians are responsible for the care and expenses of the guardian dog like your own. For ex: guardian dogs must be up to date with all health/vet/vaccines/flea/tick/heartworm prevention. Love Me Pooch, on the other hand, is responsible for all breeding related care and expenses. We have guardian homes that are very satisfied with the program, providing the best care comes natural since they will have full ownership after they retire.
We decide when the guardian dog will be bred and to whom they will be bred to.
For females: she stays with her guardian family during most of her pregnancy (up to 63 days) and then is returned to us about a week before her due date to deliver (whelp) and then raise her puppies (8 weeks). Once her puppies are weaned and go home between 8-10 weeks then- she’s returned to her guardian family. This is usually the most difficult for guardian parents, as she is away from her guardian home for 2 months. On the bright side, look at it as a perk. It's like having free boarding while you and your family can plan your vacay!
We generally offer our Guardian Program for our females, but at times may offer a male. The same rule applies, except the male dog does not leave the guardian family as long as females do and their retirement is usually longer (could be up to 8 years).

INCENTIVE: For female guardian dogs, after a successful litter and once puppies have reached 8 weeks old, we pay guardian homes $100 per healthy puppy from each litter they produce. For male guardian dogs, after a successful pregnancy and litter of 4 or more that are born and only part of LMP dam. we pay a one time fee of $500. This incentive to the guardian family is a great way of saying thank you!
COMMITTMENT: Guardian Family must be willing to communicate, cooperate and coordinate with Love Me Pooch during their time in our program, and be dedicated to providing a safe, loving home for the lifetime of the dog. It does take a commitment and the willingness to be flexible for the needs of the breeder, but we believe it is well worth it to receive what is typically a “cream of the crop” dog. Of course, there are requirements set forth in a contract that must be followed for obvious reasons, but keep in mind that the value of one of these dogs we are selecting can be very costly. Therefore, the need for the breeder to find just the right home.
There is a detailed contract that goes with the Guardian Program. Please contact us if you are interested in joining our Guardian Home program. We may have a puppy or an adult dog that we would be placing with a Guardian Home, depending on availability and guardian's preference.
